Belarusian Ambassador Visits Smart University of Medical Sciences

The Ambassador of Belarus, visited SMUMS to explore and identify collaboration opportunities. The visit aimed to strengthen scientific and educational ties between the two countries.

During the visit, Dr. Bakhtiari, President of SMUMS, provided an overview of the university's activities. Then Dr. Ahmadi, the university's International Vice President, highlighted the university's prominent role in advancing cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, and its impact on improving educational and research processes. He further added, "With the expansion of artificial intelligence across all fields, especially in health and medical sciences, the university has received a special mandate from the Ministry of Health to promote AI in health issues and medical education."

Belarusian Ambassador stated that the main goal of the meeting is to explore opportunities for collaboration with Iranian universities. He emphasized the importance of improving cooperation in the medical and technological sectors and referred to Belarus's successful experiences in advancing physician expertise and developing educational systems. He also expressed Belarus's willingness to share experiences, conduct joint training programs, and suggested signing a memorandum of understanding to expand cooperation between the two countries.

Dr. Babak Sabet, the Educational Vice President of the university, discussed the institution's goals of expanding its education, research, and health sectors, with a specific focus on sharing expertise in the smart medical system. Dr. Sabet highlighted the university's capabilities that could facilitate collaboration between the two countries. He also suggested the possibility of offering virtual doctoral programs in artificial intelligence and e-learning, as well as granting joint degrees. Furthermore, he mentioned the Journal of Visualized Medicine and the potential for collaboration with Belarusian professors on the editorial board.

To conclude, the President of SMUMS emphasized the characteristics of Iran's medical education system and its role as a key member of the WFME responsible for evaluating medical sciences in the region. Dr. Bakhtiari also highlighted the university's involvement in implementing the Ministry of Health’s policies. He suggested potential areas of collaboration and expressed optimism about a cooperation agreement serving as a roadmap for developing scientific and educational relations between the two countries.

The visit presents extensive opportunities for joint advancements in medical and emerging technologies, as well as the strengthening of bilateral relations between Iran and Belarus.
