Smart University of Medical Sciences Holds Press Conference Announcing Upcoming International Congress on Artificial Intelligence

The Smart University of Medical Sciences hosted a press conference on Monday, where Dr. Hassan Bakhtiari, university president, highlighted the significant impact of AI in transforming medical sciences. Dr. Bakhtiari noted that advancements in technology and artificial intelligence have revolutionized the field, underscoring the potential of AI to improve education, research, and patient care while reducing healthcare costs.
Dr. Bakhtiari emphasized the university’s mission to leverage AI across medical fields, supported by government agencies, including the Ministry of Health and other medical universities. "This institution was founded to advance AI in medical science," he explained, "and its application is already proving instrumental in expanding healthcare access and optimizing treatment costs." He added that the university was pivotal in providing online medical education for healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Iran ranks first in the region and sixteenth globally in AI research publications, Dr. Bakhtiari remarked, expressing hope that AI’s role in medical sciences would further elevate the country’s international standing. He also announced the upcoming Second International Congress on Artificial Intelligence in Medical Science, scheduled for December 18-20 at the International Conference Center. "The congress offers a vital opportunity to exchange ideas with international experts," he said, noting that prominent scholars from Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Austria, and Canada will attend. Topics to be covered include AI in healthcare, medical data processing, AI applications in pharmaceuticals, digital health, and policy-making.
In addition, Dr. Bakhtiari shared news of the university’s recent license to establish an AI research center, expressing optimism that this new facility’s research will enhance the country’s healthcare and improve people’s well-being.
